From Auckland International Airport It's a leisurely 2 hour drive southward to The Whale Bay Surf Bach, via the small townships of Ngaruawahia, Whatawhata and Raglan. Most rental cars have a NZ road map supplied in the glove compartment for your convenience or download these directions below as a word document - Click here

•  Once out of the airport, take all signs Southward and to State H/way one.

•  Once on State H/way one head south for approx 1 hour and pass through the township of Ngaruawahia. (it's the next township past Huntly)

•  As you pass through Ngaruawahia's township look for the green BP gas station on your right and take signs to Raglan - State highway 39

•  Turn right imeadiatley past the gas station on the same corner and cross over the railway lines. (State Highway 39)

•  Once over the railway lines turn 1 st left and follow the road and all signs to Whatawhata and Raglan

• At Whatawhata, turn right at the “T” intersection and take all signs to Raglan. (State Highway 23)(Whatawhata is very small and only has a hotel and a gas station on your left at the T intersection).

• Follow State Highway 23 until you get to Raglan;s main street. Once in Raglan's main street, turn left opposite the old 1900s Harbor View Hotel and follow the road to Whale Bay (small community approx 7 km).

•  Whale Bay will be the 1 st roundabout that you come to. )approx 7km from Hotel)Go straight through roundabout (don't turn left) and take 1 st street on right. This is Tohora Close

•  The Whale Bay Surf Bach is at number 9 Tohora Close. (brown gates, twist/turn handle to open gates) Feel free to bring your vehicle in and park on left side of the driveway. Follow the path on the right side of the house down to the flat lawn and barbeque area below.

•  The cream wooden French doors now on your left off the small deck is the entrance to the Bach. The ocean is now immediately on your right. You have reached Paradise, Enjoy!
